Unagi-Kappo TAKAHASHIYA


We are a traditional Japanese restaurant based on "Ryoutei Matsu no Chaya", a restaurant produced by the Mitsui combine(zaibatsu).
We are a long-established brand, loved by the locals for 150 years.

Introduction

Sugito Town, Saitama in Japan is located within the Tokyo metropolitan area(40km), and was the historical town which had been prosperous from old as the fifth largest posting station-town in the Nikko Highway (present National Route 4).
Takahashiya(2 min. walk from Tobudobutsukoen Station) ,established the shop in this place early in the Meiji era, has been served many visitors kabayaki(grilled) or tempura(fried)of eels caught in the Furutone River flowed right in front of the shop.The sauce for eel-kabayaki is a traditional sauce added since 150 years ago.The fried eels are fried in a full oil using smaller eels, and are recommended to eat with the tunaflavor soy-sauce.
